Smokehouse Restaurant in Antrim 1844 has been recognized as a DiRoNA Awarded restaurant since 1999!
This incredible restaurant is located in a National Historic Trust Register building – Antrim 1844. The hotel itself dates back to the mid-1800’s and was named after one of the original owners family member ancestral home in County Antrim, Ireland. Incredibly, most of the original outbuildings including the Carriage House, Ice House, Post House, Summer Kitchen, Brick Kitchen, Overseer’s Wing, Barn, Spring House, and Outhouse remain intact.
A variety of owners made use of the plantation, including a family that owned it for close to 100 years. They hosted many galas and important functions and gatherings for many dignitaries from Washington, D.C.
When it was eventually sold to the current owners in 1987, they opened it as a bed & breakfast with 4 guest rooms. The close proximity to Washington made it an ideal destination. Eventually, the property was expanded to include many activities including a swimming pool, tennis court, croquet lawn, horseshoes, badminton, and a nature trail by the stream for guests to enjoy. The owners also added the award-winning fine dining Smokehouse Restaurant and Wine Cellar to the upgrades.
The menu consists of an amazing selection of dishes that will tantalize the eyes as well as the palate. The Executive Chef uses the freshest ingredients to create contemporary American cuisine to the delight of novice epicureans and gourmands alike. Antrim 1844 also boasts a large wine cellar with over 20,000 bottles. You can reserve a large party table for private dining in the Wine Cellar.
It is truly an experience to dine at Antrim 1844. Just a short drive from Gettysburg and Frederick, MD, it is worth the trip from Baltimore, MD & Washington, DC.
