    Chez François was founded in 1987 by Matthew Mars and Chef John D’Amico. We our a fine dining, white table cloth destination restaurant that is located in the lakefront city of Vermilion, Ohio. The restaurant is housed in a National Registered Historic Landmark building that was built in 1840. It is nestled along the Vermilion River which flows into Lake Erie. The Main Dining Room is formal “proper attire” that has a European feel with exposed brick and dark wood beams, Turkish aubergine drapery and authentic large French Posters. Very Romantic and a great venue to Celebrate life whether it is an anniversary, birthday, graduation or just a get away.

    Our Riverfront Cafe offers riverfront/outdoor dining. Casual but sophisticated the Cafe was awarded the second best riverfront dining in America by Motor Boats and Yachts magazine. We offer boat docks for patrons to dock as well.

    Our cuisine features seasonal, farm to table highlights and we source from accredited small properties located throughout the United States. The menu has both French and Northern Italian influences.

    Our wine list has received the Best of Award of Excellence by the Wine Spectator since 1998. We have been honored to receive the Open Table “Top 100 Restaurants in America” award in 2013, 2015 & 2016. Top 100 out of 24,000 restaurants located in America. We have consistently been rated the highest scoring restaurant in Ohio by Zagat for Food, Service and Decor since 2005.

    Vermilion is 45 minutes from Cleveland, 1 hour from Toledo and 1.5 hours from Columbus.
