Designed by owner Toshi Kizaki and Roth Sheppard Architects, the restaurant’s multi-level interior is a blend of east and west aesthetics incorporating traditional elements alongside modern design. The first floor features a signature sushi bar with silk butterfly columns created in Japan, a dramatic drinking bar with red lacquer ceiling boxes holding authentic sake barrels, and intimate private dining areas divided by repurposed sliding silk screens.
A glass enclosed elevator and grand staircase are encased by a 20-foot bamboo garden and open up to the “Ten Qoo” sky lounge with a retractable glass ceiling offering open sky during all seasons. Dramatic woodwork and illuminated walls create a dynamic dining experience while floor to ceiling windows in the front dining room pivot to create open-air breezes and an additional patio offers true al fresco dining.
Izakaya Den features an extensive sushi menu featuring daily fish shipments from the fish market in southern Japan, along with traditional udon and ramen. Master Chef Toshi Kizaki created a signature global menu indicative of “Izakaya” style. This new wave in Japanese dining for the United States brings together a more casual style of dining yet keeps traditional cuisine at the forefront. The menu encompasses Japanese techniques and traditions blended with contemporary flavors along with Izakaya Den’s signature fresh and expansive seafood selection. Signatures include Nuka Zuke (Nuka marinated seasonal vegetables), Crispy Ikanago and Burdock (a traditional bar snack) and Sautéed Squid with coco and fava beans.
